Sligo Racecourse is a grade 2 racing venue located in Cleveragh, approximately 3/4 of a mile from the centre of Sligo Town. Although racing in the area dates back over 200 years, the race course itself only opened in 1955. The facilities presenting racegoers with contemporary facilities in an historic and naturally beautiful setting.
The are 8 meetings a year from May to August which ensures that the Sligo Races are a hotly contested event with both flat and jump racing on show. A two day meeting in early August is a particular highlight and carries on where the famous Galway races stop, offering those who are touring Ireland or following the horses a continuation in their favourite pastime.
Admission to Sligo racecourse costs €15 for adults and €10 for students and senior citizens.
Island View Riding Stables
Trekking options available range from a 30 minute lead rein trek for young kids, a 1 hour beach ride or a 2 hour hack right up to a full day trail ride. Also available is a special island ride with the opportunity for a hearty gallop for experienced riders. Groups are welcome and can avail of discount rates.
